The hydraulic rotary actuator is applied directly to robot joints and can create high mechanical strength and torque. It was designed to be small and high-powered to be suitable for hydraulic robots. This type of actuator can demonstrate a force-to-torque ratio roughly 10 times higher than existing systems composed of motors and harmonic drives.
Depending on the purpose of using the actuator, sensors of different resolutions (12~17 bit) can be attached to produce the required precision and characteristics, and servo valves be used to create superior control performance. Products can be customized to have large movements such as a single-vane model, or to have more force at the same size such as a double-vane type model, or to have different rotary angles or torque, depending on your needs.
One merit of a rotary actuator is that it can be easily added to a system by inserting it through two links. It does not require any additional parts such as bearings or reducers, and therefore ensures precise and strong movement, and the link does not require clearance. This precision is useful in not only robots, but in other industrial applications as well.
Customers can choose from single-vane or double-vane types, and standard products come in various volumes, including: 100Nm (885 in-lbs), 300Nm (2655 in-lbs), 500Nm (4425 in-lbs), and 1000Nm (8851 in-lbs). Other volumes and forms can be ordered on demand. Single-vane types allow better maneuverability ranges, and double-vane types offer more torque; single-vane types have half the torque power of double-vane types. Double-vane types are smaller than single-vane types because each vane’s internal pressure is balanced, and have less friction and internal leaks. These characteristics make rotary actuators suitable for various purposes.
At KNR, we conduct research on mounted actuators, and we are interested in applications in harsh environments such as underwater, dust, and high temperature environments.
Hydraulic rotary actuators are a key component of hydraulic robots and automation systems, and require several specifications depending on the system they are applied to. At KNR SYSTEM, we provide various types according to the customer’s needs, and also provide customized products as required.
Regarding internal leaks and quality of friction, which are opposite characteristics, we plan to prepare products that vary in these characteristics in order to provide products that are appropriate to the user. We also plan to make customized orders of these characteristics available.
Also, KNR SYSTEM plans to develop and release a smart actuator that combines a controller, hydraulic servo valves, and sensors as an addition to the hydraulic rotary actuator product line. In accordance with this plan, we are currently preparing a sensor-integrated actuator and STEP 1 of the smart actuator development.
